The Present began as a pair of successful Kickstarter campaigns — “The Present” (an annual clock, in 2011) and “Today” (a daily clock, in 2016), both created by Scott Thrift. In 2020, Scott planned to introduce the third timepiece in the series (a lunar clock, called “Our Moon”).
I worked with Scott to simplify the naming of his trio of clocks, resulting in the more concise and universal: Day Moon Year.
I also designed a symbol to represent the series, now simply known as “The Present”. The symbol shows the measurements of time set free from the bounds of the clock — having become like the rays of the sun.
